On the night of Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:58 (2358) pm I was recklessly cut off by an Oak Creek Police Office driving a marked police surbaban. I was travelling East on Rawson Avenue at approximately 45 mph (which is approximately 5mph over the posted speed limit). I was in the middle of three lanes approaching the intersection of Rawson and Howell. A city bus was in the right lane about 50 to 75 feet in front of Me, but was gradually braking for the red light at the intersection evident by the brake lights. And that is when the Oak Creek Police approached from my rear in the right lane with no emergency lights or sirens in use, cut me off in the middle lane within 20 feet of the vus going well over the speed limit, and continued to cut across the left lane to turn into a Phillips 66 gas station and travel into an adjacent parking lot. I had been travelling in my truck with my girlfriend taking her home. The driving officer not only put me and my girlfriend in danger but themself (I'm not sure if the driver was male or female or if the had any passengers) and the driver and passengers of the bus. Upon dropping off my girlfriend, she told her mother what happened as her mother is an officer in Greenfeild. Her mother told us that she drives over the speed limit with no lights and no sirens when responding to a call that is not an emergency all the time and that I should move on. I, however, called the police non emergency number and reported the incident because of the severity of the dangerous and reckless driving. The dispatcher said she understood that it can be intimidating when an officer speeds past but offered no further help until I inquired to find the identity of the officer driving and about repercussions. She said that due to the number of emergency calls placed and that there was no way to track the exact whereabouts of an officer driving it would be difficult but she would talk to her supervisor. But since she took none of my information down to keep me informed, I doubt that anything will be done. I would like to remind officers of wisconsin statute 346.03 and that what the officer did tonight was no doubt ILLEGAL. The police are not above the law but rather held to a higher standard of the law.
The oak creek police are very great and to this day I look up to them. They are quick, ready, and execute everything beyond expectations. The OCPD is outstanding.
