It was brought back and then I clarified my earlier question and apologized needlessly explaining that i wanted to switch back to hot coffee so I could get the hazelnut (which only requires a change of cup).
Came in to get a birthday reward and buy a treat for myself. I understand from experience that working in customer service sucks sometimes, especially food service, but I expect people that work in this field to at least feign interest or appreciation for customers.
"You have a free coffee, tea, or soda." she stated and seemed impatient when I took a moment to respond. So I quickly picked coffee, attempting to ask a question regarding availability of hazelnut iced coffee that ended up being misunderstood...so then i just ordered a chocolate pastry and she went to get it.
I responded something like, "oh, that's cool" and paid. She didn't seem interested at all in trying to ask how my day was or anything. That was it - on to the next customer. I realize maybe, just maybe, I expect too much. But is it really that hard? With all due respect, this isn't just an issue with one person at a random Panera. I see this almost everywhere. Kinda sad.
Ordered from the rapid pick up while grocery shopping. Got there to a line of 5 people. I asked if this is the rapid pick up line, I was informed it's just the line. I ask if my order is ready, they ask my name, they haven't received it yet. I stated I have frozen items melting in my car. About 10 minutes later I receive my order while all other recipients are still waiting in line. I get home to open my box salad to find chicken clumped in the corner and transparent onions and some wilted greens as I picked thru it. For the 10$ with a tip half salad, so not worth it. My only redemption was emailing corporate while waiting that 10 minutes. For the size and the price, I could just get a McDonald's side salad with a better piece of chicken on it.
In fact, I decided to ask her how her day was after this, just to see what would happen. The staff member stated "it's my Friday" and then trailed off to say something about what she was doing over the weekend to a colleague standing next to her.
A little upset as I love Panera Bread. Got a salad tonight and it wasn’t the exact salad I wanted. That is okay as I understand orders do get mixed up or they end up wrong. My problem was when I called to voice my concern, manager stated “I’m sorry about that. Next time you come in you can get a cookie..” Didn’t ask for my name or address to send me anything for this cookie. Didn’t say please come back in and we will take care of it for you. No, said to come in and get a cookie. I’m sorry but I rarely call in about a order and when I do the manager is very understanding and will provide that proper customer service. Never have I had a manger offer me a cookie for my wrong order. Disappointed to say the least.
I love Panera. It is so good and if I could I would go there all the time.
Anyway, my main complaint here is that there was never a simple utterance of "happy birthday" not was there ever a "no prob" or "that's okay" - instead I got impatience and no good will whatsoever.
I was asked "do you have a rewards card?" I said no I don't have the card but I can tell you my #. Staff member pointed at pad to enter #, so I did.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the place. I went when it was cold and dreary, but it was so cozy in Panera! The food was also amazing, and I loved the tea.
